The Indiana Museum of African American History (IMAAH) will add to the rich culture of White River State Park and downtown Indianapolis. Planning for the 120,000 square foot museum began in 1999 and is envisioned to include exhibit space, a 400-seat performing arts center, a genealogical research component and the corporate offices of Indiana Black Expo.
The IMAAH will be dedicated to collecting, documenting, preserving and educating the public on the history, life and culture of African Americans in Indiana and beyond, for the purpose of enlightening, encouraging and empowering the public. |
